Our Story
Fusion City Church is a new church in Canberra, the capital of Australia. It is led by
Matt and Gill McGaw, who moved here from Adelaide, South Australia, sensing God’s passion and dream for this great city. The experience that they have brought with them in church leadership is substantial and their excitement about this new God adventure is infectious.
Prior to moving to Canberra, they spent 3 fantastic years in Adelaide as part of the pastoral team of one of the city’s fastest growing churches, Victory Church, led by Tony and Kath Rainbow. It was a very emotional goodbye all around when they were released at the end of 2007 to go and pioneer a new church in Canberra.
Matt and Gill had previously relocated to Australia from South Africa in December 2004. It was in South Africa that Matt discovered the call God had on his life and in 1997 they started Breakthru Christian Church, in Durban, South Africa. They led this fast growing church for 7 years, before handing over the leadership of the church to pursue the heart that God had given them for Australia. During this time they were also part of the apostolic ministry team of New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI) for 5 years were they had the opportunity to minister extensively throughout Africa, Asia, Europe and America.
Matt and Gill have three amazing kids, Beth, Dan and Nathan and a big part of their passion is to help young families and young people apply the truth of the gospel in the world today.
